I have a confession to
make. I do not have a green thumb when
it comes to gardening. Yes, I am a
beginner, but it is something that I enjoy doing, even if I fail at it half the
time. J
Last year I tested my skills at planting a perennial flower bed. I planted my flowers in rich potting soil and nurtured them carefully in hopes that they would return the next year.
Imagine my delight this spring when my salvia plants sprouted up again and then grew to twice the height of the year before! My husband laughed at my enthusiasm over two silly plants but I didn’t care. Something that I had nurtured and cared for all summer and fall had flourished.
Why did my plants come
back? They were deeply rooted in good
soil so the winter freeze did not affect them.
As followers of Jesus,
we are similar to these plants. However,
God is a far superior gardener then I.
He is the master gardener.
Isn’t it amazing to
think of how God cares for his children?
Like a gardener, God plants us in good soil and showers us with his love. He nourishes us with his word and shelters us
through the long chill of winter.
By reading his word,
praying and following Jesus in faith we can be like plants rooted in good soil. We can grow by leaps and bounds. I like to picture him rejoicing over each child
growing in faith each season.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed reading Rebecca. My mom has always had beautiful perennial flower gardens in her front yard. When my husband and I moved into our house, I made it my mission to plant some flowers. I'm hoping that I can get a few more to survive this year. :) Every time I see nature I am always in awe that God created it all. It is a reminder to me of how much he loves us.
