This Valentine’s Day, I had the
opportunity to help my mom sort through some family photo albums. Each one held
a treasure trove of memories. We started pointing out different physical resemblances
passed down in our family.
Wow, he does look like me,” I said, comparing
my baby picture to my youngest son.”
My mom smiled. “Yeah, I told you. He has
your smile!’
Soon, pictures of my grandparents caught
my attention. No one could deny we were
family. We all shared similar features.
The old photos showed my grandparents’ legacy.
They not only passed down family resemblances, but a legacy of love and faith. They loved
their kids, grandkids and great grandkids, spending time in prayer for each of
us. They are in heaven now, but the love and the wisdom they passed on, remains in my heart.
It’s amazing how God can use others to influence us and show his love.
My grandparents' love, faith in Jesus and
words of wisdom had a major influence in my life. So this Valentine’s Day has
me thinking about ways I can leave a legacy of love and faith for my family. I
hope that I can follow their example.

I agree with you that Mom and Dad did have a big Christian influence on us when we were growing up. All three of us siblings studied the Bible and had prayer vigils a lot at home and went to many revival services. It left a lasting Christian impression on us that we all took with us into adulthood. DeleteRachel, I hope I'm leaving a legacy of love and faith for my family, too. I've been blessed to have those things handed down to me so I pray I'm doing the same.
