Overcoming Obstacles: Building Spiritual Endurance, Part 3

Half a mile into the 5K my right calf muscle cramped. I’d stretched well enough … or so I thought, but my rock hard calf pleaded with me to quit. If my walking partner (my mom J) hadn’t been with me, I might have given up. However, after finding some Christian music on my phone to keep focused, we pushed through together.

A mile later the muscle stretched out and I caught my second wind. No, we weren’t the first people across the finish line. Far from it actually, but we made it. We finished the race.

Obstacles along the way can make our goals seem impossible sometimes. All of us are fighting a battle whether it’s seen or unseen and the enemy wants us to feel like we are alone and powerless. It's all a lie. Our strength comes from the one true king. He never said it would be an easy journey, but He does promise to never leave us.

So, here are a few verses to remember when you run into obstacles.

When you are going through a trial…

"When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you" Isaiah 43:2 NLT

When fear threatens to conquer you…

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT

When you feel alone…

"For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Zephaniah 3:17 NLT

Never give up! Remember we are in this together. What are your favorite verses for overcoming obstacles? I’d love to hear them. Thank you for reading and keep Shining for Him!
