Tell us a little about yourself and what inspired you to start writing.

In some sense I’ve never grown up or at least my love for things have never changed. ;o) I’m a huge animal lover and I have always loved to write. My mother recently gave me a manila envelope full of stories and poems I wrote and illustrated from about 7 years old and up (all of which have animals included). In high school I took every writing class I could and in college I chose journalism as my career choice.

My husband and I have been married for 35 years and we have 4 children and 2 grandchildren. As I said I love animals. We’ve had all kinds of critters including a prairie dog which we loved dearly. We own 2 Arabian horses and 2 Tennessee Walking Horses and one miniature donkey. My husband and I love to ride. We try to get out and trail ride once a week. I keep my 2 and 5 year old grandchildren when my daughter works. So my writing has slowed due to the change in our lives, but I still enjoy escaping into the worlds of my characters whenever I can.

What kind of stories do you enjoy writing?

I love to write historical romance as well as reading it. I enjoyed writing my medieval, but alas I enjoy writing 19th century stories, too. What makes it so much fun is tying the stories together. My hero and heroine of Sword of Forgiveness, Royce and Brithwin, are the ancestors of my next release, a 19th century Charleston romance.

Out of all your books, who is your favorite character and why?

Oh my, that is tough. You haven’t met Duncan from one of my other Charleston 19th century books, BRIDE BY BLACKMAIL, yet, but I love that guy. He is so much fun and full of himself. Oh, and he is Scottish. That always helps. ;o)

What is your favorite song or movie?

My all-time favorite movie is Gone with the Wind.  Rhett and Scarlett make such a fun couple full of conflict and romance. And the storyline moves along beautifully.

If you could visit any time period what would it be and why?

Boy this is hard for me. Because I’d like to visit 3 time periods. I think almost every Christian would like to visit the time that Jesus walked the earth, so I’m not going to choose that one. So that would bring it down between 19th century and medieval times around the 14th century. I guess I will go with 14th century, because though we know a lot about medieval times, there is a lot of myths and disagreement about things. I’d like to go for myself and see how life truly was for people.

What projects are you currently working on?

I’m working on the sequel to Sword of Forgiveness as my first 19th century story is waiting for its January release.

Sword of Forgiveness Summary

After the death of her cruel father, Brithwin is determined never again to live under the harsh rule of any man. Independent and resourceful, she longs to be left alone to manage her father’s estate. But she soon discovers a woman has few choices when the king decrees she is to marry Royce, the Lord of Rosencraig. As if the unwelcome marriage isn’t enough, her new husband accuses her of murdering his family, and she is faced with a challenge of either proving her innocence or facing possible execution.

Royce returns home after setting down a rebellion to find his family brutally murdered. When all fingers point to his betrothed and attempts are made on his life, Royce must wade through murky waters to uncover the truth. Yet Brithwin’s wise and kind nature begin to break down the walls of his heart, and he soon finds himself in a race to discover who is behind the evil plot before Brithwin is the next victim.

  5. I have always been fascinated by medieval times, also. It would be fun to "visit" that time period, but definitely not live then. I'm sure it's hard to slow down on your writing, Debbie Lynne, but we know how fast children grow, and it's wonderful that you can spend extra time with your young grandchildren. My youngest ones are in middle school already. Times flows by so rapidly! may_dayzee(at)yahoo(dot)com

    2. Hey Kay! So good to see you here. I think we romanticize medieval times more than maybe it was. But it was a hard life for many. It sure is a LOT of fun to write about though!
