Gathering Together
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good
works. And
let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one
another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
Hebrews 10:24-25 NLT
Last weekend I had the opportunity
to attend the Nehemiah Fest with my family. What is the Nehemiah fest, you
might ask? It is a free Christian music festival that happens every September
with bands from all over the US. Most of the bands perform their music at no
cost.
It was a cold weekend for camping
out, getting down into the forties but I didn’t hear anyone complain. All the volunteers
gave their time and talents freely to make everything come together. It was an
amazing event and I can’t wait for next year. They were even kind enough to let me share flyers for my new book, Beauty Within in the programs. If you’re in the KC area click
here to check out their website.
Attending the festival got me thinking
about what it means to gather together as believers and encourage each other.
All the people there came from many different backgrounds. However, it didn’t
seem to matter. We all came together for one purpose — to worship the one true king.
It reminded me that the real church isn’t the building. It’s the people that
make up the church. Isn’t it amazing what happens when we meet together to
worship? He meets us there.
