Review of Searching for Sanity by Lindsey Bell

Book Summary

Have you ever looked at your beloved children and wondered: What in the world am I doing? Why did God trust me of all people to raise them? Motherhood is the most difficult job many of us will ever take. Moms today are busy, overwhelmed and stressed. Many feel under qualified.

Searching for Sanity offers moms an opportunity to take a breath, dig into the Word, and learn from parents of the past. In short devotions designed for busy moms, this book explores the parents of the Bible, both the good and the bad. Some of the parents within the pages of God's Word set great examples for us to follow; others made huge mistakes. In Searching for Sanity, you'll learn from both. The wisdom of God's Word, paired with the experiences of another mother-in-training, will help moms find sanity in the midst of chaos.

My Review

Searching for Sanity is beautifully written and a must read for any mom. I love the way that Lindsey draws from the scriptures and relates them to her life experiences as a parent. Every chapter provides encouragement and insight into raising children in a loving Christian environment. The weekly challenges at the end of each chapter are great to apply the lesson to everyday life as well.

As a mother of two young children, I loved reading this book. Motherhood is wonderful but also quite stressful at times. It’s easy to fall into the trap of feeling inadequate but the devotions in this book serve as a reminder that there are no perfect parents out there. However, by seeking God and serving him, we can be good role models for our kids to follow. Every chapter I read blessed my heart and encouraged me as a Christian mom.
