Beautiful Thought #2

True beauty shines from the inside out.

In today’s society the true meaning of beauty has been obscured. We are influenced by what we see on TV and in movies where too much emphasis is placed on outward appearances. We strive to be perfect like those air-brushed models we see, but unfortunately perfection is unattainable--in this world anyway.

The good news is, God defines beauty much differently than this world. 1 Peter 3:3-4 says, “Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.

True inner beauty is God given. When Jesus lives inside our hearts, He can make every aspect of our lives beautiful. In Beauty Within, Katherine Arnold is a hair stylist who has seen more of her share of people who are unhappy with their looks. However, she has a gift of seeing beauty that is more than just skin deep. Through gentle encouragement, she helps the people around her to see the same.

God looks at the heart. When we start looking at ourselves and others through God’s perspective, that’s when we can truly see beauty shining from the inside out.
